Summer 2024


The Tidewater Conducting Summit and Competition is a selective program based in Norfolk, Virginia in which ten invited conductors will rehearse and perform with Newfound Chamber Winds. This year’s summit participants will be mentored by Dr. Kevin Sedatole, Director of Bands at Michigan State University. NFCW Fellowship Program

The Newfound Chamber Winds Fellowship Program is a week-long summer program that brings together ten artists from around the country to collaborate with NFCW musicians. NFCW’s Fellowship Program features an invitation to join the NFCW family with side-by-side rehearsals and performances between fellows and NFCW members, chamber music coaching, and 1-on-1 mentorship. Old Dominion University Band Directors Workshop

Newfound Chamber Winds is proud to collaborate with the Old Dominion University Band Directors Workshop, a new program designed to build practical rehearsal and conducting skills that will enhance efficiency and offer and expanded pedagogical toolbox to the 21st century band director. Participants will conduct a lab ensemble and be coached by ODU Director of Bands Dr. Tyler Austin and guest clinicians Dr. Terry Austin (Virginia Commonwealth University, Ret.) and CAPT Brian Walden (U.S. navy Band, Ret.). The workshop will also include professional development sessions led by NFCW members and an acclaimed roster of guest clinicians.

We bring together forward-thinking musicians from across the United States to offer intimate but invigorating performances and educational opportunities while expanding our repertoire through commissioning and collaborations. Our friendship conveys the humanity in the performing arts, and we love the opportunity to prove the accessibility of our art form to all who appreciate it.
