NEWFOUND CHAMBER WINDS CONDUCTING FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM

Newfound Chamber Winds: Conducting Fellowship Application

Up to three(3) selected NFCW Conducting Fellows will work with Tyler Austin, NFCW Founding Artistic Director and Director of Bands at Old Dominion University, and Evan Harger, NFCW Associate Conductor and Director of Orchestras at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Conducting Fellows will conduct members of Newfound Chamber Winds and NFCW Chamber Music Fellows. Fellows will receive 90+ minutes of podium time and professional-quality concert and conductor footage. There may be a live performance component, dependant upon summer repertoire.

Up to three(3) NFCW Conducting Associates and Auditors will be accepted. Conducting Associates will be awarded 30 minutes of podium time with members of Newfound Chamber Winds and NFCW Chamber Music Fellows. Conducting Associates and Auditors will have access to all non-conducting program opportunities available to Conducting Fellows. 


Repertoire will include standards of the chamber winds repertoire and newly-composed works by attending NFCW Composition Fellows.

Additional Program Highlights:

  • Seminars on a wide range of topics, including: Career Building, Conductor/Performer Etiquette, "Everything after the Double Barline: Score & Part Preparation" with David Biedenbender, Presentations by NFCW Artist Faculty, Presentations by participant composers, Q&A Session w/ Composition Workshop faculty David Biedenbender and Viet Cuong, Speaking to Audiences, and Writing Program Notes

Conducting Fellow Tuition: $450.00

Conducting Associate Tuition: $300.00

Conducting Auditor Tuition: $200.00

Fellows, Associates, and Auditors will be responsible for their own accommodations during the program. On-campus dorm housing is optionally available at the cost of $530 for 11 nights, Saturday June 7 - Wednesday, June 18. A number of off-campus housing options are also available. 

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis October 15 through January 1. Participants will be notified of their acceptance via email by January 15.
