Flutist Matthew Angelo is a freelance musician and former arts administrator based in Easton, Pennsylvania. He has given performances across the United States as well as in China at the 2018 Lianhuashan Glades Music Festival, France at the Cité Internationale des Arts and Foundation des Estats- Unis, and in the Czech Republic in a twelfth-century monastery in the small village of Nová Říše. He is a flutist and founding member of Newfound Chamber Winds (formerly Maryland Chamber Winds) and Manor Winds woodwind quintet. He serves as flute/piccolo with the Pocono Pops, and from 2021 to 2024, he served as the flutist of NakedEye Ensemble. Additionally, Matthew has played with the Delaware Symphony Orchestra, Reading Symphony Orchestra, Bay-Atlantic Symphony, and the Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic. He has appeared as a soloist with the Maryland Chamber Winds, the historic Quakertown Band, and the West Chester University Symphony Orchestra.

Matthew performed at the 2016 & 2018 National Flute Association Conventions and the 2015 Navy Band International Saxophone Symposium. He has been a guest clinician with the Chester County and York Youth Symphonies. Matthew can be heard on the MSR Classics’ album Three-Nine Line: Music of Nicole Chamberlain with flutists Mary Matthews and Nicole Chamberlain and Tonsehen Records’ album Preludes & Recitations with the Maryland Chamber Winds. An advocate for new music, Matthew has premiered 20+ works by prominent American composers.

As an administrator, Matthew served as Executive Director of the Newfound Chamber Winds from 2019 to 2023. Previously, he held the positions of Operations/Personnel Manager of the Allentown Symphony Orchestra, Administrative Assistant and Special Events Coordinator for the Bach Choir of Bethlehem, and Personnel Manager/Librarian for the Hartford Independent Chamber Orchestra. In the summer of 2020, he was selected to participate in Akropolis Reed Quintet’s Mastermind, a week-long program focusing on entrepreneurialism in music.

Matthew began studying the flute at the age of 10. He received a Master of Music from The Hartt School and a Bachelor of Music from West Chester University of Pennsylvania. His principal teachers include Dr. Kimberly Reighley and Janet Arms. When not performing, Matthew enjoys spending time at home with his husband (also named Matt), their golden doodle Dakota, and family and friends. He currently works as a Travel Advisor, operating his own independent travel business, which allows him to fulfill his second passion in life, travel.
