MARYLAND WIND FESTIVAL

The Maryland Wind Festival was a multifaceted performance, outreach, and education concert series held in Frederick and Washington counties in Maryland—built upon the ideals of bringing music performances and educational opportunities of the highest quality to the areas of western Maryland.

From its humble beginnings in the summer of 2015, the Maryland Wind Festival grew, along with the Maryland Chamber Winds, to become a staple classical music series in the communities of western Maryland—with performances in Downtown Frederick, Trinity Lutheran Church, the Maryland Theatre, Surreybrooke Gardens, the Delaplaine Arts Center, the St. James School, and more. Accessibility was at the heart of each concert performance, joining with community organizations to create lively, local, and free performances for each area the Maryland Chamber Winds served.

In addition to the traditional evening concerts, a series of early morning concerts were created for children and families in partnership with local libraries. Education was at the heart of each of these performances and extended into further projects such as our educational workshop programs in partnership with the Frederick County Public Schools, Washington County Public Schools, and the Barbara Ingram School for the Arts.

The Maryland Wind Festival continues to lie at the heart of all of Newfound Chamber Winds’ activities and ideals, to bring music and education of the highest qualities to the music-loving communities throughout the country.
